Lack of clean and safe water especially in rural areas has been for quite long time, a chronic problem all over the continent and Zanzibar islands are not an exception. As a result, MICO gathered vast experience in administering the boreholes drilling activities in Zanzibar. So far many water wells already handed over to the intended beneficiaries.
As a result of many finding, MICO realized an increase of the problem even over the town area where potential people live, to reflect the situation, strategy has been put mostly rural zone as this would make life improvement.
In January 2016, MICO secured funds from several donors for drilling of new water wells in different parts of Zanzibar, the table here below shows a summarized in information of the new wells accomplished.
AIn a period less than a year, MICO successfully delivered more than 15 water wells to the beneficiaries and now a significant number of villagers who were previously not serviced are now consuming clean and safe water, although a long way still to go for that the problem is a chronic one. These water wells each one had approximately cost of $3,000.
